Anyone know of any other films that portray survivalism or some form of self-sufficiency?
A recent one that comes to mind is "Shooter" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0822854/ even though it was really just a subplot of the film.
Look up a man named Dick Proenneke. A great man, who filmed and lived by himself in the Twin Lakes region of Alaska for 30 years,living off the land,with some of the best wildlife footage ever seen was filmed by him in the 60's.He was a true "Mountain Man". There is footage of him building his own cabin and hunting.If he needed it ,he built it. I loved watching his films back in the 70's. Greatness,Alone in the Wild is one of my favorite documentaries.
