If one likes snowy mountains in westerns then I have to add "The Great Silence", which is absolutely brilliant spaghetti western, but unfortunately relatively unknown one.

Outside of western genre, the Bronson film "Death Hunt" (1981), springs to mind as well.
Dances with Wolves was compared unfavourably with this.
