DVD RELEASE?
When are we going to see a DVD release of this film? It`s sad that so many films of the 1960s and 1970`s are simply unavailable to the public on any format.

shareDear roho: INNOCENT BYSTANDERS (1972) was released on Astral Video, a Canadian label, in the mid-1980s. I have 2 of them. It isn't easy to find -- but if you like a challenge you could try and see if someone on Ebay has an original for sale.
It likely won't be cheap, however.
But it is findable. I don't live anywhere near Canada (Florida, USA) to be exact and I've got two. I figured it was good to have a backup of it so the 2nd Astral copy I bought was just the original tape. The box and box art had been lost. If you can play PAL tapes I.B. was released in the UK on several different occasions and is probably easier to find in England. But you have to be able to play PAL-format VHS tapes.
NOTES: Re >>> P.J. It's a darn shame this movie hasn't been shown in years. I've seen the TV version, which I know is watered down, but I've no idea where to find a copy of the original theatrical version. Universal must have it rotting away in a vault somewhere.
The swine.

Tape is precisely the issue. The transfer quality on "NTSC/PAL" players is odious and SECAM transfers only into Black and White. I bought a few PAL tapes (The Decalog which was not out back then, and Barjo and Providence which have never come out) but could never make myself watch them due to the quality.
Then came the DVD era. I'm on my 5th machine, and every player I've EVER owned played any region and converted PAL to NTSC and v.v.
Therefore, the only hope for these films is that someone stumbles across the rights in their files and takes a flyer.
Dear 'socrates17': I don't get what you're saying. I can play ANY format of VHS tape in my VCR and the picture quality is as good as it can be.
>>> I only have 10 SECAMs, but they all play in color.
I bought a Panasonic Worldwide Industrial VCR back in March 2006. One of my best investments, to be sure.
I admit I never copy anything to another tape or to DVD. I've got 3,500+ tapes already (and I haven't got a DVD player, anyway).
Some folks copy their rare tapes onto another video or to a disc but I just play the originals.
Until next time. Regards, CG (InvasionofPALs)
Modcinema.com has it(and lots of other 60's/70's films) not sure their source but i hope that helps.
shareComing out February 2013 by Olive Films in both dvd and BR.
shareThe Olive Films Blu-ray disc is excellent and comes from clean, unblemished elements. The sound is quite good too. The BRD is Zone A locked.
shareI second the fantastic DVD release. The quality is pretty consistent for a low-level major release.

Thank you, sir. Just ordered the dvd. I understand Stanley Baker turned down the role of James Bond before Sean Connery accepted.
shareOne of the most obnoxiously perennially unavailable early 70’s titles.
There are so many (why?)
Amazon offers a lousy square-screen transfer on demand for $2.99 (rental), but that’s about it.
