Can You Spot Christopher Guest in This?

Easy enough with his imdb billing, but it is funny to see him this far back in his young career.

He's the young policeman who talks to the hilarious watch commander played by deadpan William Redfield, who, when told the radio has been knocked out, asks, "Did you try...monkeying with it?"

This was back when he was Chris Guest and starting out with the National Lampoon stage comedy group.

It happens after that scene, when he says "They're bombing us sir!"

Yes indeed,easily recognizable.

A very funny scene, reminds me of the thick and fast comedy from the Airplane! films. Later in that scene, Chris Guest knocks at door while all the little bombs are going off. William Redfield STILL sitting at his desk as if nothing's happening, "Yes?"
CG: "Sir! Bombs... er bombs in the street sir"
WR: "Bombs, huh?", finally gets up, "It's a revolution, a goddam revolution"
Another bomb explodes, WR flinches this time.
WR: "They always try the police stations first!"...

Great to see Christopher Guest pre-Tap, and quite funny to see his hair and sideburns a bit on the long side for the police force.

yeah spotted him first viewing
always thought 'what the heck is chris
guest doing in that part?'
i just figured his lampoon cachet wielded more heft

but never connected redfield til just now
he was the waxy curmudeonly 'bachelor' among the
group in cuckoo's nest?

great performance i actually thought
he was a resident of the asylum cast
for authenticity's sake

but realize now that was a silly assumption

didnt care for the character at all but that s actually
a compliment to redfield
