Twin towers under construction

Middway through the French Connection, there is a scene where the French drug runner is on the Brooklyn waterfront and you can see both towers under construction. The north tower is almost complete with half of the aluminum up.

I heard Robert Redford has restricted release of Hot Rock. Is this true?

It's the only one I can think of, but any location shooting in Manhattan in 1971 or 1972 holds the possibility.

I'm assuming you could never film a sequence like this today with a helicopter flying erratically so close to NYC buildings. I guess it would be TWO helicopters: One with the camera and the other being filmed.

I believe there is one shot where the helicopter is filmed right through one of the towers. What a great record of a NYC that once was.
