Does anyone know where to purchase the Limited Edition German DVD?

Try Amazon.de for the German dvd of Horror Express.

What's it like? How's the transfer?

Avoid the U.S version it is dire, very poor picture quality,( looked like it had been recorded off t.v), sound really bad too.

The DVD I have is actually a good transfer, and widescreen.

The UK Cinema Club DVD isn't too bad, it's open matte (full screen) and the print is a bit rough looking but it's definitely one of the better DVD's of this film out there.
