Lenny... give me a quarter for the ladies room, please.
remember when you had to put a quarter in the meter to enter the bathroom stall?
too much damage. no-one had a quarter. didn't last long.

No! I laughed at that scene. I wondered what the quarter was for.
Woman, man! That's the way it should be Tarzan. [Tarzan and his mate]
I think part of the joke in that scene is the fact that they are at a fancy restaurant and there would not be a need for a quarter, as that was only in the cheap places back then. They would not have a pay bathroom in that restaurant.
shareIt was probably to tip the matron
shareI recall in California in the late 60s or early 70's, a politician ran a statewide battle to ...ban pay toilets. The politician was a woman, and she even had a cheap commercial made of a middle aged man rushing around an airport without coins for the toilet...and not managing to hold on (his facial expression, with the cigar in his mouth drooping down, told the story of pooped pants.)
Such primitive savagery, once upon a time. The woman politician won the battle, pay toilets were banned, and she rose to statewide office on her toilet campaign.
