Duvall as Jesse James?
I don't know about you, but I just can't see Duvall cast as Jesse James. I think Brad Pitt was the best Jesse James IMO. What do you think? Who's your favorite Jesse James actor?

shareDid you see the movie? I saw it last night and I thought he was great. I was a bit of a nut. He delivered this crazy "I have seen a vision" speech and floored me. Insane and funny. I wish we got to see more of him. The film is more about Cole Younger.
Dictated, but not read.
Funny I can see it , it was in a film called The Great ... ohh why bother....
and it worked .....
A great film

This film was made at a time when Duvall was best known for his Western Villain characters -- most notably Ned Pepper in the original True Grit. He almost ALWAYS played badguys at this time, so Jesse James was a natural for him.

I dont think Duvall can be blamed for something that seemed to have been more the script's and director's idea (Kaufman) but is it me or his southern accent was just wrong? I have to say, not his best performance. But again i have a feeling the director/screenwriter might be to fault here.
shareBrad Pitt sucked as Jesse James.
shareI thought Duvall was in fine lively and ornery form as James.
I'm a totally bitchin' bio writer from Mars!
