That's true, I'm just remembering that Vito and his issue, were described in the novel, as having temperaments that made them capable of murder. Like alter egos. I remember reading something about their eyes glazing over or turning a different color when driven to a rage.
Perhaps Fredo, although unable to return gunfire at the gunmen that attempted to assassinate his father, was driven to that level of rage, after realising he'd been lied to, when the Tahoe gunmen attempted
to assassinate his baby brother, and possibly, anyone else that could've been in that room, including his beloved
nephew Anthony.
If he did dispatch the gunmen by cutting their throats, one knife and two necks, had not been left to ambiguity, they could've
introduced it during the O.J. circus.
