I'd say probably yes, and it was documented in many publications years later that Coppola didn't like Richard Castellano (Clemenza) because they had clashed over the script to which Francis to umbrage since Richard wasn't the screenwriter. In turn Coppola would make Richard reshoot his scenes repeatedly giving a rise to Richard's disdain of Coppola. It's one of the main reasons Richard demanded way more money when the sequel came about but due to his antics in GF 1, Coppola eagerly rewrote the story and had Clemenza whacked.

Maybe Coppola forced many reshoots of the taking a leak scene, and each time, Castellano had to drink cups of water!! 

Probably tea. After all, George Lucas, Copolla's protege, directed Charles Martin Smith in "American Graffiti" and Smith would go on to star in "Never Cry Wolf" in which he drank tea all night to "mark" his territory with urine to keep a wolf out of his camp.
