Somehow, it didn`t really even occur to me to think of it as a boxing film, as it were. But it`s great. Huston did something really-really unexpected here, with this low-key, intimate, psychologically and socially incredibly perceptive number; a masterpiece of dirty, down-to-earth bleakness, authentically documenting invisible lives. One could mistake it for some Bob Rafelson movie or something.
