in it's look someitmes. anyone else agree with me? it's different in a lot of ways too of course. the characters and story are completely different. but the look and feel are similiar in some way. i loved barfly until i saw fat city which topples it though. way better.
shareI agree. "Barfly" is one of my favorite movies. The bar scenes in "Fat City" were reminiscent of "Barfly," especially the relationship of the two characters to each other and to booze. This movie really blew me away. I can't believe I hadn't even heard of it before a friend recommended it recently. I'm really glad I saw it.

shareThe Charles Bukowski fans out there should check out anything by David Goodis. Especially if you like your bars seedy and your drunks damaged! Cassidy's Girl is a good place to start from and I wouldn't be surprised if that's where Bukowski borrowed a few ideas!
