Pissing scene
Prior to the last fight, we see Tully's opponent pissing blood. How does that pertain to the story and why did it have to be there?

shareMy understanding was that it was meant to show that Lucero was sick/ill and therefore Tully's victory was not as impressive as it seemed.
Saw this film for the first time today and really enjoyed it, particularly the Tully & Oma scenes.
I thought it served as a thoughtful meditation on societal issues. Isn't that what you get out of piss-blood?
shareThere are many scenes that show how violent boxing is. Add to that the descriptions of the damage the trainers have seen boxing do to men and it gives you an idea that is the main point of the movie.
