I started watching it because Stacy Keach was interesting back in the day but Jeff Bridges sucks. Did he train as a boxer at all? I'm not sure. This is one of the few movies I turned off. I know it's about the defeatism or something like that but shouldn't the actors train as boxers to be credible?

I'm not sure you have any idea what a "boxer's physique" is, or should be. Not every boxer looks the same, first, so what, to you, is a "boxer's physique"?
Go watch some fight films from around 1970. You'll see their physiques in Fat City aren't far off. Boxers steered clear of weights until the late 80s. (I'm guessing at what your criticism actually is).
