song slim plays
he says its by vivaldi, but does anyone know the title of the song??
shareHey there...the song is Vivaldi's Largo Concerto for Guitar....I like it too.
It's by Vivaldi, Guitar Concerto in D, 2nd movement (Largo).
shareI always thought it was "Canon" by Johann Pachelbel. I am ignorant of most classical music. I like alot of it, but am a mere dilettante.
It sure sounded like it. It's one of the many reasons this movie is a 9 out of 10 for me. I loved it.
Not your normal "western". A refreshing change and unique.
"How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?"
~ Satchel Paige (Hall of Fame Baseball Player)
I never knew what the name of this song was until now. It was also used in a Rankin/Bass movie called "The Bermuda Depths" with Connie Selleca. The song was played with a harpsichord for her intro, and it was beautiful there as well.
shareNo, it is very similair to Pachelbel's canon - the mood of both pieces are very similair. The Vivaldi is lesser known but nevertheless a beautiful piece, and it sat very well in this magnificent film.

Just thought I'd mention that the Vivaldi piece was also used, to great effect, in George Roy Hill's 1979 film "A Little Romance" with Laurence Olivier & Diane Lane (her acting debut).
When you think about it, surprisingly or not, both films are about kids coming of age -
the piece suits these films very well.
