Anyone besides me remember the short lived television series?

It paled in comparison,of course to the film, but I just like to hear from people who remember the same things that I do.I remember A Martinez and some of the other boys took part in it,but that wasn't enough to make it a good show.No wonder it didn't last long.

Yes, I remember it. In the summer of '73 I had a motorcycle wreck that knocked me out of school for a year, and some time that fall the movie, The Cowboys, was on and that was the first time I had seen it, and I liked it. Not long after, there was an announcement on television, "'The Cowboys' premiers on January __?" so I was thrilled with the idea, those guys close to my age going back a century (long before dirtbikes to break their legs). It wasn't that great, of course; a movie made into a TV series hardly ever is even worth watching, but I still wish this one had made it for a full season or 2. But honestly, all I can really remember is they had 7 of the cowboys who went to work on the ranch, now owned by Mrs. Andersen and run by foreman Nightlinger; Cimarron, reprised by A Martinez was the 'featured' character, once they got into a 'gangfight' with a group of Apache youths, the local sheriff was played by Jim Davis... that's about it.

I remember it. I was probably the only one who watched it while it was on. I do admit I was madly "in love" with A Martinez and that is probably the reason why. Same reason I watched "High Chaparral"...Henry Darrow, but really like the shows (I did think that the movie version of "The Cowboys" was better) but I really love Westerns.

I saw most of the episodes. I was in college at the time. They were ok even though they weren't great.

I remember it. I thought it was horrible.

I remember it very well. Loved it, esp. cuz Sean Kelly was in it, but played Jimmy instead of Stuttering Bob. I watched it all the time, but most of the episodes were pre-empted because of the stupid Watergate stuff going on at the time. It didn't stand a chance with that going on.

I think I remember a scene where Moses Gunn as Nightlinger is in the bunkhouse with the kids and calls one of them a "jackass". I was eight and thought that was kind of strong language at the time, though as I remember it the character had a smile on his face.

Remember it, liked it. It could have shaped my youth had it continued on for a length of time. I would have been much more interested in cowboys and the like.

I read somewhere, maybe here on IMDB, that the show was reduced from an hour to a half hour, which made it difficult with the large cast.

I thought Jim Davis played the same character as John Wayne from the movie, with just a revamp or something, saying he wasn't dead. Hey, I was seven.

I remember him seeming to talk to the wife or widow in the same affectionate way that John did in the movie. I wouldnt see the movie until years later.

Was surprised to hear that guitar piece came from here. That tune was all over the place back then.
