I still hate him from this movie!

Now now gwhite. He was only acting. Be sure to watch The War Wagon made in 1967 when it is showing on TCM on Nov. 29, 2008. You will see that maybe Bruce was just getting revenge. :)

I remember him (Bruce Dern) saying on The Tonight Show that he was out somewhere and an old lady came up to him and said...Your the one that killed John Wayne and proceeded to hit on him....

BRUCE DERN DID NOT KILL JOHN WAYNE! However, Longhair killed Will Andersen.

It takes a great acting job for the viewing public to want to kill his character.

Very true. He really was great in the part and made people totally loathe the charachter.
