The Guitar Tune

Does anyone know what the name of the music that is played on the guitar.
He says it's by Vivaldi, but nothing else and there is no soundtrack info.
It is a beautiful piece. Really moving.
At first I thought it was Canon but that's by Pachelbel, not Vivaldi.
Anyone know?

thanks!

That Piece IS Vivaldi and is called "'Largo' from concerto for guitar" It's easy to find on the web in tableture form (if you play guitar) and is pretty easy to play.

Thank-you very much.
It does sound very simple, but very very beautiful.
It was a moving piece. It makes me wish I could play guitar.

Cheers!

That guitar piece was played all over the place back in the early seventies, from commercial bumpers to even on Sesame Street showing a flower (in fact, I think the commercial bumpers also showed flowers). I was surprised to see it came from this movie.

Guitar Concerto in D Major, 2nd Movement by Antonio Vivaldi.

I know a lot of water has passed under the bridge since you posted, but Steve Howe does a wonderful version on "The Steve Howe Album."

Oh I'm still out here surfing away!
Nice version but I found his choice a bit too fast for my liking.

I am still looking for a Liona Boyd version and strangely there doesn't seem to be one posted on YT.

Nice to know you're still posting after 7 years,

Sounds like you've thoroughly investigated the piece through a range of different musical eyes.

That musical interlude around the campfire among other instances, certainly helped to differentiate "The Cowboys" from a lot of other John Wayne westerns IMO.
