Band of prostitutes

Who was their leader? I don't think she's credited.

reply

It's Colleen Dewhurst, who is really wonderful in that small cameo role.

reply

Not sure if they were married at the time, but Dewhurst was married to George C. Scott for a number of years. He moved on to the younger but somewhat similar-looking Trish Van Devere.

Colleen Dewhurst was a major Broadway stage actress, with limited film work.

reply

Even in this film Miss Dewhurst was a smoldering presence on the screen- major hottie points from me.

reply

It's that voice - what a voice!

reply

Campbell Scott is the son of Colleen and George C. He and his mother performed together in Dying Young.

reply

Anybody recognize her from Anne of Green Gables?

reply

She was brilliant.

reply

Hell of an actress.

It was an odd, gratuitous, pointless scene - a band of prostitutes, camped out in the middle of nowhere in the Montana prairie. Didn't make much sense for this story.

reply

It was an interesting encounter for the boys--two of them anyway--plus Mr. Nightlinger, and helped give the story some added color. I don't see how it's any more odd or pointless than the wagon train coming across that odd medicine show trio in John Ford's WAGON MASTER.

Eye candy.
