Overrated...and not enough Lucy!

While it was nice several years back when they dusted this one off and started showing it again, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is just nowhere in the ballpark of the classic 2 Peanuts specials (Christmas and Great Pumpkin). It's warm, amiable, has the great Guaraldi sound (and a whole original song) but little else. Certainly it doesn't have enough Lucy whose appearance may qualify as the first cartoon cameo ever.

Linus soldiers on gamely and tries to give a Thanksgiving themed "big speech" near the end, just as he did in the Christmas one, but perhaps the simple problem is that Miles Standish really doesn't hold a candle to God. It's also curious that he rides away with Chuck and the gang at the end. Isn't he expected home for dinner? Is he making a statement that Lucy really IS that annoying to be around?

From the classic Peanuts era there are better options that were done (including the now never seen Motocross special). Still, it gives the warm fuzzies, and remains better than almost anything done in this genre today.

Damn right its better than the junk we get now! I like this charlie brown one but not as much as the x-mas, but better than the garfield thanksgiving which I think was boring. But I think garfield halloween is better than charlie browns. Idk, Im kinda in the middle with charlie browns halloween/great pumpkin. Did u ever get to see that pilgrim charlie brown special? I think its called the may flower journey or something. Boooorrrrinnnnggggg lol.

They air the two thanksgiving episodes together now.The original is cute the later one educational.I don't really have a problem with either one. They are not as good as other Charlie Brown specials they're not bad.

Thanksgiving episodes (from any series) are sedom that interesting to me.I don't know why.I like hearing the history of but most attempts entertainment wise fall a little flat for me.

Snoopy fighting the chair to the tune of "Little Birdy" is my favorite Peanuts scene of any special.

Correction: this is one of the WORST scenes in the entire series.

Even seeing it as a young viewer, it was painfully obvious that this scene is only a space-filler because they couldn't think of anything else to pad out the run time. It's not funny, and it adds absolutely nothing to the story. Whenever I saw it, I always thought, "How long is this going to go on?"
