Blu-ray possibly?
It is opening the TCM Classic Film Festival with a new restoration. "A Star is Born" did the same thing in 2010 and came out with a gorgeous Blu-ray set. Will this be the same type deal?

Please God, it will. The currently available DVD is so poor technically.
shareI have no idea if this is true, but someone posted this on the Blu-Ray.com forum in January:
"On one of the DVD Classics radio shows I heard George Feltenstein say Cabaret will be a Warner blu-ray release in 2012. The problem with it has been a heavy scratch down the center of one of the reels that required being painted out frame by frame, a time consuming and expensive process."

I think a Blue Ray is a definite possibility. In the April 15th issue of
my local newspaper, The Tallahassee Democrat, there was a nice article by a
Lynn Elber with the associated press. The article is entitled "Bob Fosse's
'Cabaret' restored to original glory."
Ms. Elber described the painstaking process process that removed the
result a large scratch across quite a bit of footage.
After all this (expensive?) work was done, it seems that a Blue Ray edition
would surely be released sometime soon so the public can see the results and
enjoy it.
Yes a blu-ray is possible, but do you all realise that the look and sound of this film was deliberate in order to make it look old.
Cabaret is coming out restored on Blu-Ray next year. I was hoping we would see a 40th Anniversary publication this year but better late than never. The best musical ever made. I can't wait! Here's hoping it will come out early in the year.
