I just watched that scene. It looks as if the guy had an accident and was taped up. It's kind of strange IF they chose him to be an extra. Maybe something out of the norm is what they were looking for, for background extras. It seemed like he was looking at the camera in the last shot of him. I checked the trivia page to see if there was anything about him, but there wasn't.
