He was super handsome so I'm not sure what you are talking about. He has full lips, not sure what is wrong with that since the overwhelming majority of humanity has those (despite what Hollywood usually shows us).

I think you might be referring to his "Hapsburg" lip - which he may or may not have genetically-speaking.

It's sort of a protruding lower lip that "kinda" looks like the owner is cradling a pool of saliva in front of his/her teeth.

It was a famous genetic trait among the rulers of Austria - so, even if you think it makes him looks "retarded" - it's considered a mark of royalty.

I never thought it took away from him or his looks.

I just thought the muscles in his mouth moved differently than they do for other people, kind of like Sylvester Stallone.

Some people are distracted by this sort of thing and get completely hung up on it. My sister-in-law is obsessed with teeth. If some actor hasn't had braces in his youth, she will focus on that and miss the point of the movie.
