Favourite scene?...

When Blacula and Tina meet in the nightclub and he returns her handbag, there is no dialogue, just the music filling in the blanks while our imaginations do the rest. By the time she is introducing him to her friends at the table, we know their attraction is established with barely a word spoken. I like this because it is understated and suggests that a true attraction rather than the hypnotic power of the vampire is at work. This film is full of cleverly edited vignettes but this is my favourite. It's a cut above the more run-of-the-mill blaxpoitation film. Did other scenes resonate with other viewers?

Honestly, I think the introduction with Dracula was the best part of the movie. It was a really fun origin story and, while hammy, that was honestly one of the more evil interpretations of Dracula. Not only did he participate in the slave trade and feast on human blood, but he also condemned a woman to starvation and her lover to hunger and living death. That's a hardcore evil Dracula.

The action sequences in the warehouse, the graveyard and the final location were all fairly exciting as well though. I'm sorry to say, but that animated title sequence may have been the best part after the intro. I love the little bit at the end where the bat's progress is blocked by the narrow passage, so he swoops down an alternate path and catches her as she exits the tunnel. It's a shame that sense of hunger, fear and desperation was nowhere to be found in the film itself.

It's still a fun film though.

I agree! The origin story was VERY well established. Dracula is far more interesting when portrayed as starkly evil. The romantic versions are too numerous to mention. Without his cruel side dominating the role, Dracula is a bore.

The scene where he gets hit by the cab,and has that interaction with the female cab driver. The showdown at end was good too.

My favorite scene is the cab driver running in slow motion towards the morgue attendant.

The beginning with Dracula

or the ending when he is melting in the sun.
