Still Close After 43 years!

Its heartwarming to see the cast still so close after 43 years. They really love each other. Marry McDonough, in her wonderful book, says that Eric Scott (Ben) to this day, calls everyone at least once a month just to see how they are. Eric may have played Ben as a hothead but he is a genuine, compassionate, loving family man. Its also refreshing to see the cast of an iconic TV series that has become so much a part of our lives, its refreshing to see that they have all turned out well and happy and not succumbed to the tragic Hollywood ending that was the fate of so many child stars. I hope to someday attend a "Walton Reunion". The girls especially, and Richard Thomas are eternally youthful. I feel like they are a part of my family too since I grew up every Thursday night watching them for 9 years and they are a part of my every day life on DVD!

Good to see. I may have not been impressed with their acting skills but as people they mean a great deal for the entertainment they provided. The Walton's for me as a middle aged person is a great comfort show. A simpler time that I never actually lived but feel a kinship with versus the coldness of the world today.

The one who has not been on the recent reunions, and tv show interviews is Jon Walmsley (Jason). I think he is the one who pretty much does his own thing. The others seem to be more in contact.

Jon is very busy with his music career. But he loves his Walton family and has several recent pictures on his Facebook page. And the words Mary McDonough (Erin) wrote about him in her book confirms to me that his warm and compassionate personality that he brought to Jason is exactly the way he is in real life. I was always partial to Jason, anyway. He wasn't as excitable as John-boy, hot-headed like Ben, or seemingly angry and depressed like Jim-Bob. No wonder the Baldwin ladies wanted to adopt him.

I don't normally follow the real lives of actors, but having read your post, julie, I do feel good to learn what you reported. It is nice to learn good things about people you spent hours watching, particularly watching them grow up. They spent a lot of hours with each other over more than just a few years, so it is nice to learn they are doing well and still have good memories of their times together.

Jon is especially close to all his television siblings because he is an only child and he considers his tv siblings his real siblings. He refers to Judy Norton, Mary McDonough and Kami Cotler as his sisters and Eric Scott and David Harper and Richard Thomas as his brothers. There is an especially endearing picture of him and Eric on Facebook where he has his arm around Eric and the caption simply reads "brothers".

Were there any romances between the actors who played the Waltons kids?
