That good old fashioned cooking pushed whatever BO away. I know working class people and very few have a serious BO problem based on sweat. That aside the Walton's believed in bathing regularly. Probably more so than what was typical for poor folk that could barely afford utilities. Maybe they had natural gas on the property which is not uncommon in the East.
