Grady spinoff coming to dvd
later this month. One episode features Fred G as a visitor hopefully Sanford Arms and Sanford as well!
shareI saw a couple episodes of GRADY and of SANFORD ARMS. They were both really bad. Whitman Mayo is hilarious, but playing that character outside the SANFORD & SON context just didn't work. I think the pilot episode is still the lowest rated SANFORD & SON episode here on IMDb.
What needs to come out on DVD is the sequel series SANFORD. Now THAT was a funny show. I watched most all of them on BET a few years back and was really impressed. The idea of a big white guy moving in with Fred stretched credulity, but somehow it worked. Dennis Burkley, who played Cal, really clicked with Redd Foxx and it was a lot of fun.
I've never seen the Redd Foxx variety show, but that would probably be a fun curiosity to have too.
Sanford was pretty funny, I liked the chemistry between Fred and Cal. Fred becomes a lot softer in Sanford.
Sanford also acts as though Sanford Arms never existed.
