Kung Fu: The Movie was a 1986 made for television film with Brandon Lee as Caine's long lost son. There was no series with Brandon Lee. It has been available for years on VHS only and is currently available at Amazon.com. The pilot movie for the Kung Fu: The Legend Continues series (which is actually the first two episodes of season one) is available on DVD now. However, Carradine has said there are no plans to release this series on DVD yet that he knows of. That doesn't mean it won't be in a couple years either.

KUNG FU (The Movie) -- gee, I wish they'd have actually come up with a real name for that thing-- was obviously intended as a pilot to restart the series. It ends with some hanging plot-threads, which were never resolved.

A year later, they did KUNG FU: THE NEXT GENERATION, which takes place in the present day, and was the only "KUNG FU" episode ever made without David Carridine. Instead, it starred David Darlow (who later played Lucy Luciano in the 90's series THE UNTOUCHABLES), and Brandon Lee as his son. It, too, was intended as a pilot, but was unsold, and run during the summer as part of an "unsold pilots" series of broadcasts.

Caine returned for a cameo in THE GAMBLER: THE LUCK OF THE DRAW, which also featured quite a few TV western heroes from the 60's.

2 years later, KUNG FU: THE LEGEND CONTINUES appeared, also in the present day, but completely contradictied KUNG FU: THE NEXT GENERATION, so that unsold pilot was consigned to "never happened".

One episode of KF:TLC featured time-travel ("DARK SHADOWS" style), featured a couple of the same characters from THE GAMBLER movie, and, breifly featured the original Caine! What a wild story...

The modern-day Caine actually made his first appearance in a 6th-season episode of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, where Carridine walks into Eddie Murphy's clothing store in search of a glass of water. The ghost of Master Po actually appears to him in a mirror (similar to how they were able to speak to each other in the 1985 tv-movie), and advised him, "The man of the spirit-- wears not the clothes of the pimp!" At the end of ther sketch, Caine tells Murphy, "And now, I must destroy your store. Do not worry-- I do it in-- slow-- motion."

The original Caine popped up again on The History Channel's series WILD WEST TECH, when David Carridine took over the show from his brother Keith. When Keith asked David what he's been up to, David said, "Wandering the Earth, helping the needy..."
