I have started recording Kung Fu on tv but it has started from ep1 and apparently the pilot is episode 0.

So do I have to watch the pilot?

I agree. It has a lot of backstory which explains what happens through the series, plus it's a great movie.

Yes, without question. It's the best of all the shows in the series.

Considering they give you so much backstory with ongoing flashbacks; it certainly is not a necessity. Helpful, but hardly a requirement.

I watch alotta TV...but that doesn't mean I don't have a job.

I watched the pilot on Amazon in SD for 2.99. What is interesting that through out the series you will see pretty much everything in the pilot via flashbacks. I would buy the pilot anyway.
