KEANU REEVES as Kwai Chang Caine?

I was just thinking that now's about the right time for some producer to do a remake of Kung Ku with Keanu in the David Carradine role.

Keanu has the ethnicity, maturity, and cinematic martial arts skills to pull this off. His stoic acting style is also perfect for the role.

But very politically incorrect. You need a Asian to play the role. And whoever they pick ia already automatically better than Reeves. In fact right now, Christopher Reeves would be a better choice. It would be so weird hearing Caine with a surfer dude accent.

Abandon all hope, ye who enter.

reply

Keanu Reeves is actually part-Chinese as is the character Kwai Chang Caine (Chinese mother; Caucasian father).

reply

Caine is half Chinese...how much part is Keanu...a 10th at best? They could tape his eyes back like they did Caines to make him look more asain...carridine didn't look chinese at all not one bit.

reply

Not much chance of that after the Ronin fiasco.

reply

The only reason the character was half Chinese, was because Carradine wasn't Chinese.

reply

If they ever decides to do a remake of Kung Fu lets just hope they can get somebody that actually knows Martial Arts to play the character Kwai Chang Caine. Nothing against Keanu Reeves he's a great actor but like I said I would rather a real life martial arts expect actor to play Kwai Chang Caine.

that could work

Look like Tarzan talk like Jane! HAHA

reply

I agree that he would be perfect for the role if this was the 90's. Kee (that's his nickname) is now too old.

PLEASE DON'T!
Stumbling across this thesis got me through the trouble of registring for this site at 2AM with risk for ransomware and other creepy stuff on internet.

The only things that brought this series very alive for me was the excellent base script backed up by the Chinese filosophy without unnecessary violence and the fair good acting of Carradine. This in contrast of extreme poor acting like the death of padre Benito in "the Chalice", and the same actors coming back in different roles. Clearly a big difference in talent though the crew that created the series. A stoistic (or bad) actor like Keano Reeves would also kill the main character, this based on only his part Chinese orgin. And *beep* his martial art skills, Carradine didn't need them neither when he started in this series.

reply

And apo and logies for my hasty spelling mistakes like registering, stoic and Kung- *beep* Reeves.

reply

Hell no. Let this one be.
