BBC to revive "Are You Being Served?" with new remake!

The BBC are marking 60 years of their sitcoms in 2016 with a one-hour live episode of "Mrs. Brown's Boys", a series of special documentaries and screenings PLUS by reviving some of their classic comedies (with mostly new actors playing the original characters/roles)... including new versions of "The Good Life", "Porridge", "Up Pompeii", "Keeping Up Appearances", "Some Mothers Do Ave Em" and "Are You Being Served?" being produced!! All of these will be half hour one-off specials, however if they prove a success and popular with viewers they may be made into full series (as has happened with "Open All Hours" and its spin-off/revival "Still Open All Hours" in recent years).

Good lord. This is how they want to justify the license?

I would really like that as I've not seen most of the shows mentioned. I've seen Keeping Up Appearances, Are You Being Served, As Time Goes By, etc. but not a lot of them. I wish they'd put more of them on American TV. Oh I used to enjoy The Brittas Empire as well as a few others I've forgotten.

Get Acorn TV for $5 a month and you'll have access to more British shows, though not too many classics. But for that cost I love it.

Brave of them but it would like trying to recast the Marx brothers

Well said. Probably wouldn't be innuendos but instead just raunchy stuff. You can't catch lightening twice.

I wish I lived in England. I would love to 'Keeping Up Appearances' and 'Are You Being Served'.

In other news, the Catholic church has announced the Sistine Chapel will be redecorated using woodchip wallpaper, emulsion paint and furniture from Argos.
