Fizzy Lifting Room

So, all the other children were banished in the film due to their selfish and greedy ways. Charlie and his Grandpa disobey the rules and go inside the Fizzy Room. When Charlie is getting ripped a new one by Wonka, it is mentioned that Charlie and his Grandpa have caused damage to the room by touching the ceiling. So, how does Charlie win the factory in the end? Just because he returns the gobstopper? He still broke the rules like the other bastard kids. Lol

Wonka should have kicked that greedy cheek bastard Granpa Joe out of that glass elevator when he was 200 feet up in the air.

If those pen pushers up at city hall don't like it,well, they swivel on this middle digit!

I think it's more that he returns the gobstopper after Grandpa Joe specifically says 'If Slugworth want's a gobstopper he'll get one'. I'm sure Wonka appreciated that it was Grandpa Joe who encouraged Charlie to take the fizzy lifting drink and when he returned the EGStopper he knew that Charlie had a genuinely good heart compared to the rest of the kids who needed no prompting to misbehave.

He also returned the gobstopper even though Wonka got out of giving him the lifetime supply of chocolate based on a technicality. Rather than selling it to the competition to help his starving family after Wonka was a big jerk to him he did the right thing and gave it back.

Wonka himself says why at the end! It was a test! Sure Grandpa Joe and Charlie broke the rules just like the other kids did! I'd even go further and say it wasn't so much that they broke the rules, the whole point was that Charlie had a good heart and despite not getting the prize of the lifetime supply of chocolate he still does the right thing and gives back the gobstopper. Do yall really think that if it were any of the other 4 kids that they would have done the same? Nope! When Wonka was giving out the gobstoppers and make them promise to keep the ingredients a secret, Veruca had her hand crossed behind her back. They didn't win the prize so there was no way they were gonna give back that gobstopper.

Agreed. I think it counted to Wonka because while all the kids, including Charlie, stole he knew Charlie wasn't rotten like they were. He stole, but in a way returned what was given to him as a make up.

Exactly!
