the soundtrack really ruins this great film for me
if someone could give it a new soundtrack this year - i'd get on board with this film

No and who needed/wanted one? Schickele's score was a classic. This film was made on a shoestring budget and couldn't afford a giant like Goldsmith or Williams, but "PDQ Bach" did a superb job.
shareI frankly find the long stretches of silence in this film equally refreshing, and also missing from modern films (nowadays it seems obligatory the audience must be queued by overbearing music).
Most of Dern's impressive acting here is accompanied by no music, including the burial scene.
it's just a bad culture clash for me - i wanted sci fi synths not dodgy 60's acoustic and awful loud singing

I burst out laughing when Baez started blaring out her songs. I'm not sure that was the effect they were aiming for.

It went along with over-the-top lines like "...all this incredible beauty is lost for all time" and "...the simple wonder of a leaf in her hand."
