Help - Looking for a movie, not sure if this is the one...

First of all, I was born in 1976 and I'm looking for a sci-fi movie I watched many years ago.

I remember when I was a kid (probably by the age of 6 no more, so circa 1982) watching a science fiction movie on TV. Well not sure if it was a movie or a tv series tbh, but it was definetly a sci-fi themed production , it was around 1982 and I definelty watched it on TV.

The only memory I've got involved 2 robots cheating in a card game , or a board game of some sort not sure. It's been 31 years ago, and the memory is a bit foggy, so bear with me. But I remember a guy playing a game with the robots, teaching them the rules and how to play, but eventually the robots got smart and began signaling each other with mecanical coded clues as the human couldn't understand what they were "saying" and at some point the human guy gets aware of this and starts laughing calling them cheaters. Back then as a kid, I found delightfully cute that the robots started cheating without being told to do so, like they could be little "smart machine friends" :-) (bear in mind, this all comes from the imagination of a 6 yo kid).

Could this be a scene of Silent Running? If not, does it ring a bell to anyone as to what movie could this be from? I am pretty sure this wasn't just a figment of my imagination , but probably one of my earliest memories that I would like to find out.

Thanks in advance.

It's very annoying that this site doesn't give any separation whatsoever from signatures.

This scene does happen in Silent Running. I don't know if similar scenes happen in any other movies, but I'm pretty sure what you saw was Silent Running.

I was older when I saw it, but it was about 1982, and it was on TV. We were probably watching at the same time.

I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure you're not Hitler.

I watched the movie online, and indeed, around minute 65 the scene happens as I remember it. :-)

Thank you from the bottom of my heart :-)

This was like finding an old memento.

I've just been watching it myself for the first time in a while, and yeah, that scene is one of the best parts. I'm actually surprised by how well much of the movie has held up. Those buggy/rover things they drive around in without any significant kind of harness look pretty damn dangerous now, though!
