Brought back memories

I found a bootleg copy of The Screaming Woman a few years ago. I remembered that I’d seen it as a kid, and it scared me, but I really had no memories of actual scenes. When I watched it I enjoyed it immensely, but still didn’t recall anything — spoiler alert — until the shocking ending when she finds the buried woman. When she reached up from the dirt and grabbed her, then sat up, all the memories and terror I’d experienced as a 7 year-old came flooding back. Brrrrr.

It might not be scary to an adult watching it now for the first time, but in its day it was quite frightening.

In a way it reminds me of the family vault scene in 'The Raven' (1963). When Vincent Price's dead father suddenly opens his eyes and grabs Vincent Price by the collar.

Excellent comparison. That scene scared me, too.

I found the scene terrifying as a child and it's pretty scary as an adult who knows what's coming.
