Yes I say it is a good movie, but how hard is Denis Waterman trying to speak and avoid the cockney accent.
shareDennis Waterman was quite good in the odd horror movie, wasn't he? Did you ever see him in that movie Fright with Susan George?

Not the best Hammer film but perfectly acceptable. Dracula ascending the external wall looked pretty darned good. As did Jenny Hanley.
shareI agree with you. This is my second favorite sequel (Dracula Has Risen From the Grave is my absolute favorite). The characters are likable and fun to watch, the story is interesting, and has a great atmosphere. It is one of the most entertaining films in the series and every moment is enjoyable.
Death lives in the Vault of Horror!
Considering that all of the usual motifs around the character had become by then a set of overdone clichés falling into self-parody, it still manages to be a quite decent film with lots of action and a great Gothic atmosphere. Roy Ward Baker certainly left his signature in it.
shareI agree. This was actually a very enjoyable film.
It was very limited in terms of the special effects available at the time - just can you imagine what it could have been like if they'd had a bigger budget and some of the technical capabilities that are available today?
- how can you not love all those Hammer overflowing-bosoms nightgowns?
(plus a pretty nice shot of the burgomaster's daughter's naked ass as she runs up the stairs)
- Christopher Lee is still the sexiest Dracula yet imo
most of my complaints (minor, really, in the scheme of things) go back to production values due to limited budget and limited special effects
- the cheesy looking bat puppets
- the mask the stunt actor was wearing in the final scene
- the fake-looking Dracula's eyes when he is mesmerizing with his eyes closed
- the matte effects used for the castle when shown from a distance, or when looking down the keep wall into the valley look really cheap and not very convincing
You almost wish they would re-edit those scenes or re-film some of those scenes using modern techniques. Most of the rest of the film holds up very well otherwise.
No, please, don't say this movie should be remade with today's technology!
I love the matte effects as simple they are. They are very well done and look beautiful. That was real art, not the digital crap they make nowadays and which looks so artificial from a mile away that even a child can tell.
Considering Hammer's limited budget, I would say this movie is an excellent watch.
