Worst Hammer Dracula featuring C.Lee?
I thought I was watching "Confessions of Dracula's victim" Unbelievable sequence of conquests for Paul "Timmy Lea". Worst Hammer vampire being- 7 golden vampires.

shareI Liked This One Better Than
Dracula Has Risen From The Grave
I really don't think this is the worst in the series. In fact, I enjoyed this one. I expected it to be bland and boring, and it wasn't. I don't need perfection...I just need to be entertained, and I was entertained.
I would say "The Satanic Rites Of Dracula" might just be the worst out of the Christopher Lee films.
As for "The Legend Of The 7 Golden Vampires," I really dreaded watching that one but I ended up having a good time.
It's funny, I went into "Scars Of Dracula" and "The Legend Of The 7 Golden Vampires" expecting to dislike both. I ended up enjoying both more than I imagined possible.
I think that Dracula A.D. 1972 holds that distinction.
This film, at least, lets Christopher Lee engage in actual conversations with other characters and he seems to have more plot involvement than in other films.
Yeah, I liked 'Scars' as a good companion to 'Horror of Frankenstein'; both flicks featured the most beautiful of all of the Hammer Vixens: Jenny Hanley, Kate O'Mara & Veronica Carlson...
Among my friends, both flick have a bit of a 'cult following': WE often refer to them as "Tits of Dracula" & "Tits of Frankenstein";

No, I liked "Dracula A.D. 1972." I think "Satanic Rites" is the worst by far!
shareNo friggin' way. AD1972 is a real gem, and never boring. Totally underrated, it's personally my favourite and never get bored watching it. It has that scarily atmospheric ritual black magic abandoned church scene for a start. Plus it's like a real time capsule which epitomises the 1970's. The theme music is absolutely brilliant and really sets the movie off. Just because Drac isn't in it that much and is of very few words, he still stole those scenes. Don't judge it so harshly like it's supposed to be a standard Dracula movie, It's more a modern vampire movie of those times with Dracula just making a villainous guest appearance. After all, there's been so many with Dracula as the main antagonist that this made a refreshing change. Don't judge it as a Christopher Lee Dracula movie, judge it on it's own merits as a general vampire movie. Again it's personally my favourite vampire movie, it just so happens to have a bit of Christopher Lee's Dracula and Cushing's Van Helsing in as a bonus.
The main bad guy for me was Johnny Alucard. Drac's death in this one also has to be one of the most gruesome in the series, Plus Johnny Alucard was fantastic and really made up for the lack of Drac. Only silly bit was Van Helsing needing to draw lines to decipher Johnny's surname.
Worst by far was Satanic Rites which I agree with others on. It was mostly very slow and boring until nearer the end, not much happening unlike AD1972, mostly like a slow cop story without the action than a horror film, and the end wasn't all that exciting either.
Another Dracula AD 1972 fan. It's got it's flaws but I enjoyed it the last time I watched it. It's better than most of the mainstream crap we get now.

Is Scars really that bad? There are so many copies in the shops last time i went, and it was tempting to buy? It is £5 at the moment so not to bad. If it was £3 i would probably buy.
Because a young dennis waterman is in it it seems it could be interesting. Plus the fact it is a hammer film is a plus point.

I liked "Scars" alot, I would rank it right underneath "Horror of" only because Lee actually carries small conversations with his victims and there is decent bloody scenes, especially seeing Lee freak out and stab someone.
However, yes the Bats are ridiculous looking, and the characters are really stupid. Lee tells a guy he is Dracula and the guy acts like it is a name like "Frank or Bill".

The worst hammer dracula flicks with christopher lee would be actual be a tie between the next two dracula flicks.
shareGranted this ones is goofy, with the Halloween store bats (that also fly during the daytime) but it's not all that bad.
When they started the Dracula movies Hammer screenwriter Sangster wanted to deviate from the original Bram Stoker character and leave out the super supernatural elements. If you watch Horror of Dracula you can see this when Cushing is speaking into a dictaphone saying that it's silly to think they can transform into bats etc..
So this time around they went with a different take on Vampire lore, or in this case a more accurate depiction of Vampire lore.
My only complaints are the absence of Peter Cushing, some gaping plot holes, but like most Hammer Horror movies this outing is a fun one, not a home run like the films of Terry Fisher but still worth it.
My least favorite might be Taste the Blood of Dracula, it was originally written as a film without Chris Lee altogether, but they changed it last minute so Lee's presence just seems forced because he is really just going through the motions. At least in this one he has a little bit of dialogue and he burns his man maid with a sword!
A.D. 1972 had Cushing and an awesome opening sequence! And as hardcore Kung-Fu fan it was only natural that I enjoyed 7 Golden Vampires
Satanic Rites of Dracula 1973, is the worse, Christopher Lee looks bored death, if he is not having fun, enjoying the role, it shows.
shareTaste the Blood of Dracula and the Satanic Rites of Dracula are worse than this one IMO. I'm not saying definitely that they're worse.. Just my opinion :P
shareNone of the 9 Hammer Draculas are bad films, all have good casts and solid production values, though SCARS does appear to have a lower budget than usual. In my opinion, this was superior to the three that followed (DRACULA A.D.1972, THE SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA, THE LEGEND OF THE 7 GOLDEN VAMPIRES), and better than its predecessor, TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA, which gave Lee almost nothing to do, since it was originally scripted without him. At least SCARS was a proper starring vehicle, even if a lesser retread of elements from the Stoker novel, yet Lee himself often described it as the worst. It's nice to know that his recent commentary on the DVD finds him pleasantly surprised at how well it turned out. Being the last time his Dracula would face off against Peter Cushing's Van Helsing makes THE SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA worth watching, especially with Lee's initial dialogue presented with a Lugosian accent (he actually wore the Lugosi ring, a gift from Forrest J.Ackerman). By hiding the count in a dilapidated church throughout A.D., Hammer blundered big time, producing the weakest entry in the series.

here's my ranking of the c. lee dracula pics (IMHO)
1. horror of dracula
2. prince of darkness
3. taste the blood of dracula
4. risen from the grave
5. AD 1972
6. satanic rights
7. scars
all of them i like very much
1. PoD
2. SoD
3. HoD
4. RFTG
5. TTBoD
6. AD72
7. SRoD
Having just watcheds, Scars, Dracula ad 72, dracula has risen from the grave, and lastly taste the blood. I can categorically say Scars is a good film in the hammer series.
shareI have to agree with that list 100%
Prince of Darkness (My personal favourite, the atmosphere, the sexual undertones..)
Scars of Dracula (under rated, Lee had more to do in this one and the violence was enjoyable)
Horror of Dracula (well done, a classic)
Risen from the Grave (average, but nothing great)
Taste the Blood (below average, plot holes GALORE)
AD 1972 (wrong move bringing Dracula into the 20th century)
Satanic Rites (WAY overboard)
I wouldnt say it 's the worst...but it certainly started off the slowest. Right after they burn the castle, it seems like an hour of a-hole Pual and boring Simon. I forgot we were in a horror movie for a while. But once it picked up again, it was among the scariest.
shareTaste was the worse from the first series.
