SPOILER: Possible Plot Hole + 2nd Question

SPOILER Thread.

I know I'm asking for consistant logic in a movie about a Living Dead biker gang, but..........

I understand that the mother and her butler would ressurect her son (and the butler even seems to 'guarantee' it when he tosses in the frog amulet into the grave). And, I can even buy that Tom would do something to personally see to it that Jane is ressurected as well. My problem is how the rest of the gang ressurects. I get the whole "you gotta believe you'll come back" thing, but the amulet and the whole pact with the devil the mom enters into seems to strongly argue that those two things have at least something to do with Tom's return. And, even if we are to believe that Tom has so inspired the gang that they too can come back, surely, they aren't the only people in the history of the earth who said to themselves "I will come back to life!".

2nd Question: Who is the OTHER guy in the limo with George Sanders when he goes to the Cemetary both times? I don't believe we ever see or hear about him in any other scene in the movie?

Still, I find the film a true kick!

Okay here is my explanation which I hope you agree is logical if unexplained in the film, so here goes:

The ability to come back from the dead was simply to believe with all faith that it will happen. Toms dad tried but didn't have the faith.

At his funeral, the devils emissary(or the devil himself I suppose) gave Toms mother an offer she couldn't refuse. He would attempt to guide Tom so that he did not make a failed attempt like his father (but still leave it up to Tom to make the decision). If Tom did try to come back, he would be protected from being evil.

Now here is where the frog amulet comes in. Its my belief that the devil informed Toms mother that had her husband succeeded, then he would have returned with an evil soul. That the ability to come back always results in the person returning with evil intentions.

Chadwell buried the amulet with Tom because this would make him come back in his purest form--that is not evil or necessarily good but the true and honest way of his soul before he died.

NOw the others did not have that protection and came back necessarily evil. That is why both Tom's mother and CHadwell are so happy to see him successfully returned but frightened of the others. The mother upon learning he has shared the secret tells the officers "They are evil."

But here was Tom's mother' conundrum. Tom was killing. That meant that he was not evil by necessity but by choice. He was truly evil as a person and not because of a predisposition by coming back.

So she rescinded the contract with the devil, sacrificing herself to protect abby and rid the world of the evil her son turned out to be. She basically revoked the protection over Tom the devil was giving him and turned them into stone at her own cost.
