Pacino is more likeable than he should be

Anyone feel that because it's Pacino (at his most youthful and puppy dog-eyed as well), you end up finding Bobby appealing when really he's a sh*t? We see him steal, be abusive to Helen, cause her puppy to get itself killed and basically mug that poor teenage dork Helen whores herself out to. Not to mention sucking her into becoming a junkie. If he was played by someone else, he would be hateful.

reply

I did not find him likeable.

It's that man again!!

reply

I thought he was a horrible person and without morals and empathy. Therefore Pacino did his job well in my opinion.

reply

He wasn't portraying a cartoon character of "the bad guy". People are generally a bit more complicated than that.

reply

No, he's realistic. He's charming but conniving. He's loving and abusive. He is what many addicts are... HUMAN. That's the point of his character.

reply

He's playing a junkie. Not all junkies are mean and hateful.

Short Cut, Draw Blood
