Makes you want to drink beer

Saw this movie for the first time on Netflix last night. Wow, talk about a lot of beer drinking! I wonder if that was real beer they were drinking in all the scenes.

I'm not a big beer drinker but this movie made me want to go to a pub because the Australian beers looked so refreshingly good in 1971. Especially the way they were gulping them down!

I started looking up West End beer on the internet, is this still a top beer in Australia? It looks like an old brewing company from 1859. I found a list of top 10 Australian beers but it wasn't on there.

Anyway, next time I go to the beer store I'm going to check for this or Fosters. For some strange reason this film gave me a craving for Australian beer.

As far as the movie, it was ok. A little bizarre, but still entertaining. I've enjoyed many great Australian movies over the years.

Did Donald Pleasance remind anyone else of Ringo Starr?

West End isn't a great beer, it's not shockin, but not one of our favourites.

We don't drink Fosters at all, we just export it to the sepps and the poms.

Our most famous and popular beer is Victoria Bitter.

Coopers is probably our best beer, although I personally don't like it that much.

True about Fosters. VB is no better in my opinion. Even my snails wouldn't touch it! Overall, as lagers go, Coopers is the best. There are some nice ales around too, if you know where to look, but that's a different thing really. Aussies mostly like their beer cold and easy to slide down the throat because of the heat. It did look refreshing actually.

Never lie to the dog.

Only half pints. Clever drink much more and faster.....

West End and Coopers are the major breweries in Adelaide. West End is decidedly ordinary, while Coopers is decidedly excellent.

Fosters is camel piss, which is why we export it. No self respecting Aussie touches the stuff.

So much drinking going on in this film! Some of the exchanges when Grant refuses a drink from Yabba locals are hilarious.
