HESTON COULDNT RIDE A BIKE?????

Based on the amount of references to the stuntman who looked nothing like Chuck, its obvious everybody has noticed Chuck wasnt riding the bike. This was like old STARTREK stuntman bad. And I will agree, the star of the movie shouldnt attempt to ride down the stadium stairs on that dinky little Honda. But that being said, the stuntman can even be seen simply RIDING THE THING LIESURELY DOWN THE STREET! Even looks like there could be a dummy strapped to the back. Was Chuck so feeble he couldnt ride the thing down a street? At one point the bike simply pulls up, and ITS STILL THE STUNTMAN. I'm not going to blame some fascist insurance company on this one, since the co-star guy ( the one who doesnt wear a shirt under his jacket) appears to come skidding up on his bike, hops off and its the actual actor. So they let THAT guy ' do his own' stunts per se. Whats the scoop with this? Was Chuck just a motorcycle wuss??? It wasnt even a big bike! Since I cant imagine Heston being such a priss Im going to fathom a guess and say all the bike stuff was 'second unit' stuff and Heston was at the beach that day. To which I say, how lame is that! There wasnt one producer watching dailies that said ' FER CHRIST SAKE, THAT DOESNT LOOK ANYTHING LIKE HIM! LET HESTON RIDE IT INTO FRAME!" Weak!

"Pffft, my suspension of disbelief has higher standards than that"

I'm sure it was because of risk/insurance reasons.

Cut the guy some slack. After all he did his own acting and that was dangerous enuff.

He mastered the chariot in the late 50's, riding a bike was beneath him.

bhobnine, of course Heston could ride a bike, you slimy little toad. The fact that he didn't most of the time during the production was because he was tending to important matters concerning the SAG, of which he was the President. He couldn't ride a bike if he wasn't on the set that day, could he?

In an interview with Paul Koslo who played Dutch, he said that Heston was always busy calling on behalf of SAG when he wasn't in a scene. He wouldn't even act opposite Koslo, they had the script girl hold up a mop where Heston's head would be and Koslo had to act opposite that. So I guess he was real busy.
