not to be mistakened for body snatchers remake, but having only seen this once a very long time, I recall a part with a dog having a human face, it disturbed me as child. Can anyone vouch if this scene belongs in this film?

Yes, I can confirm that. It takes early in the film, during a New Year's costume party. I remember seeing on a poster/lobby card when I was young, and it disturbed me too.
