The director of Birdman was a huge fan of Melody!

Here's an interview with Alejandro González Iñárritu talking about the films that inspired him as a child. Apparently one of them was Melody. Thought it was something I should share with you guys :)

Strange,( especially if you saw it at the right age) how this film gets into your psyche and imagination and has such a profound emotional impact on peoples lives.

Amen. It is also one of the films that inspired Wes Anderson to do Moonrise Kingdom. That wedding scene was obviously influenced by Melody. I can also see some of the influences on Richard Linklater's films as well. The graveyard date with Daniel and Melody reminds me of those sweet and existential conversations between Jesse and Celine in Before Sunrise. Funny all three guys were nominated at the Oscars this year. I like to imagine that they saw the film as young boys back in the 70s and just fell instantly in love with it.
