David Puttnam should add this video clip in the next batch of
DVD (or Blu-Raty) release. Other stuff that can be added are:
* How Is The West This Week (TV series) episode dated
8 February 1972 .... which is included in Tracy Hyde's
filmography in the IMDB. Puttnam should not have any
difficulties in accessing this.
* Latter day interviews with Mark Lester and Tracy Hyde
(I don't think this is difficult to arrange with both of them).
NB: It will be nice if the interviews are done in some of the
actual sites where the movie was made.
* Past interviews with Jack Wild about Melody if any.
* Latter day interviews with other children characters in the movie
(e.g., Peggy, Muriel, etc.)
* Latter day interviews with David Puttnam and Alan Parker
and Waris Hussein (they should provide information about
the movie based on the most frequently asked questions
in the many different web sites on Melody including the IMBD).
NB: One thing I really want to know about is the tombstone from
which Melody was reading. Was it a real one or was it a prop?
The dates on the tombstone are eerie!
* Interviews with the Bee Gees about Melody if any.
* The full interviews done with all the cast and crew during the filming.
* The re-union videos of Mark and Tracy in 1994 and 1999.
(the Japanese rights will have to be settled first).
* Deleted scenes from the movie.
NB: I know that there was a deleted scene showing a painting
class in the school. I know this because of a news clip
from the era (1970) about the shooting of the scene.
Daniel (Mark Lester) was supposed to be very good at
painting. I have also seen a couple of pictures of that scene.
* ... and perhaps ... the album soundtrack of the film???
These added clips would be a very good incentive for those
thinking of buying the DVD. Without these add-ons people
can simply download a free copy from the Internet and there are
some with very good qualities.
The added clips should be indicated on the DVD cover for the
people to be convinced of buying it.
