Honestly, I'm not that interested in the film, but I really wanna watch the dog vivisection scene...anyone know where I can watch it online? I don't wanna clog the family's 1-DVD-only netflix plan just to see that one part.

It's really nothing special. The dogs don't look that real.
They look mechanical. If you notice only 1 dog is actually seen in close up and moving around a little. I thought possibly they only had enough budget to make one model mechanical and the other 3 non-moving. Back then, yes at first glance it would have been horribly realistic. But I reckon back then if one had the power to watch the scene over and over again, it would be soon easily noticable that they are puppets.
