Alan Pacula vs. Sidney Pollack


Well,who do you think is the master of political thrillers??I used to think Sidney was,but after this movie...My God,"Klute" was almost flawless!Excellent work!

They have both earned their niche of honor in film history. I wouldn't want to compare; both are/were brilliant. So sad that Pakula died so senselessly.

I don't think Pollack is anything special to be honest, he's not in Pakula's class anyway. Sidney LUMET on the otherhand...

Pakula, there is no contest. Pollack is OK but the atmosphere is Pakula films is something really haunting and special.

Three Days Of Condor was very good, but that´s about it as far as Pollack´s contribution is concerned. And yes, Lumet actually does somewhat surpass Pakula when it comes to sociopolitically themed films of the seventies.

I rank Costa-Gavras above Pakula, Pollack and even Lumet; he directed Z, State of Siege, Special Section, Missing. That's four top political thrillers.

This world is a comedy to those that think, a tragedy to those that feel.
