No, it isn´t.

I wouldn't say it was a character study per se - more of a character driven drama. It would technically be classified as a thriller, but the nature and mood of the film make it more creepy than anything else.

Ok, someone with the screenname alwaysthehours 666, is scared by a trailer from the movie, Klute.

I have trouble taking that seriously. Maybe I am WAY off base.

See what a difficult situation you've created. Proud of yourself now are you?

Cat_Dubh100 ,what did you mean?

reply

Hey alwaysthehours666,

Apparently, I was wrong. Your screen-name carries dark implications, if read wrong. 666, in Christian theology, implies the mark of Satan. I really am sorry. I thought you purposely chose the screen name because you had an affinity for the dark side and therefore, favored scary things with a dark subject matter. If this were the case, why would a trailor from Klute be scary. So, I thought you were being facetious or droll with your query.

I was obviously way off and apologize, again.

What, can't you be serious, just for once in your life?

O i see,you scared me too,i did't realized 666 had anything to do with Satan ...

However, if you don't give it any credence, no worries, right? Don't be scared, you picked it obviously for completely different reasons so ignore the silly connotations behind it.

Why pass judgement on someone who was scared of the trailer? Maybe they're not as jaded as you, or maybe they're ten years old, or just maybe....whatever. The movie was intended to be scary, and it was then, before we were bombarded with blood-and-gore schlock on a daily basis. So why not lay off someone else's values, or question their veracity.

You may not be talking to me, but these are public boards, available for anyone to comment. And HELLO, ten year olds do lots of things that they aren't supposed to. Welcome to the real world. And I was responding to your nastiness, which does not come off as a jest. Go back and look at it again.

You're still backpeddling, and your post that I commented on was downright rude to that poster. Condescending and patronizing, as well as sarcastic. Have a nice day, I'm finished with this nonsense.

I'd say some scenes are quite scary/creepy especially at the end where you see her (not knowing) walking right towards the killer and the excellent, creepy "la-la-la" theme gets louder and louder.

Michael Small specialized in scores for thrillers, and this was one of his absolute best. So eerie!

I found it extremely creepy myself

It is a film that is regarded as Neo-Noir thriller, that is to say a film that has all the characteristics of a traditional Film Noir except it's setting is modern and is filmed in colour. The sountrack by Michael Small which I now have, helps the film along in creating an impending sense of doom.

Is it scary? well, yes if you are viewing it from the perspective of vulnerable single women living a big and unfriendly cities. Unfortunately by today's audiences standards, it's probably to slow and subtle in build up. Although realistically that is the point of the film.

The creepiest moment? Probably Cable playing the recording of his 'activities' to Bree at the climax of the film...and then what follows...

For anyone who enjoys a slow but tense build up, I'd recommend this whole heartidly. The film was also successful because it was released around the height of the women's feminist movement in the US of A.

Toby. Toby! I got me a regular Ben-Hur down here. Doing 95... minimum

It's a thriller.

I don't know about you, but I find the sequence in which Klute climbs to the roof looking for the killer scary. The music, the darkness, the flashlight, it was very atmospheric.

The conversation between the killer and Bree was also creepy, in a disturbing way.

This world is a comedy to those that think, a tragedy to those that feel.

reply

Far from it. Its more sad, because you really feel bad for Jane Fonda

"the crunch means it's working"

reply

Well it's not supposed to be scary like horror scary. There are two moderately scary scenes though (the rooftop and the scene towards the end). BUT the music really creeps me out! it gave me goosebumps. I don't know if it were intended or not.

reply

I'd call it more creepy and suspenseful than scary.

It's the whole thing, everything about it, that effs with your head.

But it's realy for a thinking person. If you expect slasher type effects ... not here.

reply

Not particularly. The trailer makes it look almost like a horror film, but it's really more suspenseful than scary, IMHO.
