What and Who is Bree talking to/about?

In the scene where Bree first lets Klute in her apartment, she turns suddenly at one point and opens a shutter door to exclaim something. It sounds like "I've brought the gumdrops" or something. What on earth is this??? Who is she talking to?

PLEASE if anyone knows - this is driving me nuts. This film is amazing!

Maybe her cats? Can't think of anything else.

I wondered that too. Very odd. Must have to do with the cats I imagine but how strange.

i think it's because that she has a stranger coming into her space, a man. i'm sure very few men go to her place. she goes to theirs. just in case, she's pretending she has a roommate behind the door, in case he thinks of trying anything on her, that she has protection from him.

Ah, that makes sense. Thank you!

She references Frank, the pimp/boyfriend she was just telling Klute about. She says something like, "Ally ally in free, Frankie, I've got the gumdrops," which is a hide-and-seek reference.

Yes, that's exactly the way I read it. It highlights the insecurities, an outwardly, confident, assertive character like Bree is beginning to feel, considering her intuitive observations about her being constantly observed and followed.
