PLEASE...a remake.

I have liked a lot of Sir Michael Caine's work but not this one. I believe it was filmed in New Zealand and the scenes lack authenticity for me.

I was brought up on RLS, and know the story well from boyhood onwards. I lived in Edinburgh too, and spent summer holidays in Perthshire and Argyll, so know most of the locations well.

However, the story deserves to be retold with modern actors and this time, filmed in Scotland. There is renewed interest in film-making in Scotland, with huge benefits for tourism, with recent movies such as The Eagle, Centurion, earning praise for their outstanding cinematography.

Any suggestions for the lead roles ? We have new talent out there now who would handle their craft to their credit, am sure.

Think you are in error about it being filmed in New Zealand + it has been filmed about a dozen times and 3 or 4 times since this one.

This version was not filmed in New Zealand it was filmed in Scotland. You're thinking of the fairly recent and fairly risible BBC version.

I personally really like this version, Caine is a surprisingly good Breck and the locations all feel really authentic (despite Stirling filling in for Edinburgh!)

The Caine version was shot in Scotland. The McGann version made by the BBC was shot in NZ.

Kidnapped is regularly remade.

It's that man again!!

That'd be interesting
