This is going to be awesome! Hunting Party is one of the best! I Love it!

I'm curious whether this will be the unrated and uncut version of the film, with all the missing footage restored. Any info pertaining to this? Is this going to be an Unrated or R-rated classification?

reply

Well heres to all the none believers in the world. The Hunting Party was released to an unsuspecting audience with an X certificate, in 1971, in Britain. It was subject to censorship cuts as is it today. I have the supposed uncut version from holland. Any queries please e-mail me. Even when this film was released on home video it was cut. Oh yes and by the way its also one of Oliver reeds key works of the 1970's along with Revolver. Enjoy. If you can get it. Can anyone shed light on the region 1 dvd? Is it also cut?

reply

The US version on Region 1 is uncut, even though it is rated R. There is no "unrated version".

The scene at the beginning where Calder's men slit the throat of the cow, Brandt's scene with the Chinese prostitute and the candle, and Reed's horsefall in the movie are all intact in the US DVD version.

The UK Sky screening of the film many months ago had these scenes removed.

Where (what site) can you buy this dvd? It still does not show that it is available for puchase on IMBD site?

reply

I bought the movie today at my local Kroger's...a chain of supermarkets in my area. I paid $9.99 for it. It's listed as being rated "R" so I guess it's not the unrated version that someone alluded to. The running time is listed at 1 hour and 51 minutes. There doesn't seem to be anything in the area of DVD extras...
